This short story is about two people of different races: Thebedi who is a black poor girl and Paulus who is a ashen teeming boy. These characters experience a gradual change in their illegalise descent. When time passes by they affirm sex which results in Thebedi`s pregnancy. When Paulus comes back from university he knows about Thebedi`s rambleed marriage with Njabulo and her baby. Paulus goes alone(predicate) into Njabulo`s base where the newborn daugther is and the following day the babe is found dead.

In my opinion this story has a fascinating theme to work in class because it deals with racial segregation. Thebedi and Paulus` relationship is considered illegal in apartheid South Africa where blacks cannot have contact with whites. Consequently, they blot out from society. T hebedi comes to Paulus house at dawn because! in that location is a risk that the servants who know her would discover her presence in the house which is banned. As regards the presents they give to each other, Paulus doesn`t verbalize anyone that Thebedi make him the bracelet because he knows that whites segregate blacks and see them as an meagerly race.
