I was expecting it to be tame and depressing, but was quickly proven wrong. I do not know much about the struggles of the Palestinians and it was interesting to learn of how the Palestinian view has become lost and forgotten. The most captivating flavour of his writing was, without a doubt, the photographs. Said uses the photographs to exile, which he describes as a series of portraits without names, without contexts. They really give a realistic tactility to the misery the Palestinians see. Even the childrens smiles seem forced. Thepictures supporter secernate the story and create more of an impact on the reader. They help support Saidsbeliefs by proving there are others who feel the same. The people look as if they have lost their identityâ€"who they are, where they come from, what they areâ€"which is difficult to preserve in exile. Said writes of the struggles the Palestinian people have been facing for decades.

Their existence as native Arab inhabitants of Palestine, with primordial rights there (and not elsewhere), is either denied, or challenged (616). Their history and being is forgotten and forbidden. All of their residence is in exile. According to their enemies, their children are considered the population factor to be feared. They seem to have skipped a phase of growth or, more alarmingly, achieved an out-of-season maturity date in one part of their body or genius while the rest remains childlike. (623).
