CASE STUDY
Child: MAge: 4 season: 12/12/06
Observer: Angela SchulzPlace: Head Start
M is a four-year-old boy who is currently enrolled in a PM Head Start class. The class is made up of 14 boys and 4 girls for a total of 18 children and two adults. The children cat in age from 3-5 years old. This is M’s act year of preschool but his first experience in a “typical preschool setting.”
In terms of M’s cordial bring in skills; he is handling things very well. He is open to ask other children to play, pick a friend to imbibe up and wait his turn to play a game. M still needs some help and modeling to play with other children if they ar in Pretend and Learn and atomic number 18 already engaged in play. M has some fretting entering a play idea that is established by others. He is fine if he starts the play. M does still clear trouble remaining in a play inwardness for much than 5 minutes or so.
M is a caring child. He has been observed being affectionate with his mom. He is adapted to help others clean up, as well as clean up his own play area, and his table lacuna when eating.
M is able to play both table and outdoorsy turn-taking games. He is able to wait his turn if there are not too many others playing.
If there are more than 2 other children, M loses interest in the game.
M has been observed checking on another child who has been hurt. He is as well as able to offer an apology with out prompting when he hurts another person.
M does appear to have difficulty “ rendition” others. He cannot seem to tell when other child is through with(p) playing with him or does not want to play with him. I am not sure if this is due to immaturity or some other issue.
M seems to be developing commonly in the area of Gross push skills. He is able to walk, run, and jump. He can use all of the playground equipment that is procurable at his Head Start Center. He can fell and catch a ball.
