Sometimes, I feel like I am nobody. I have no reason, but feel that way. persuasion of emptiness and endlessness. So, I begin observing the surroundings.
In the essence of casting yesterday for our play, one of the little girls pointed out, I roll in the hay why you picked this month to do auditions for Love Bug. Oh yeah, whys that? Cause its the roll in the hay month!
We spent a full day from 8am - 5pm watch about twenty 7-10 year olds reading for the parts of Maddy and Turtle. It was tricksy, cute and more cute. They were little, big, skinny and round, inexperienced, experienced, younger and older. We had a full range.
So as Im watching these kids its more about Who is Turtle? and Who is Maddy? Its got a lot to do with how well they can act, but its got more to do with who they are and how well they inhabit the character.
Susan and I were chatting during luncheon about how some of these kids would be awesome for some early(a) roles in other plays we have, but maybe not unblemished for this one. Thats the thing, estimable because you dont get the part, doesnt mean youre not a majestic actor. You may not be old enough. You may be in addition old. Too tall, too short, too slow, or too fast. We saw one kid who was super natural and sweet-smelling and would be awesome in another role, but just not this one.
